Hexagram 57, Xùn (The Gentle Wind): Line 4
巽卦六四 · 巽为风 · 中文版
六四:悔亡,田获三品。
The line (Legge)
The fourth SIX, divided, shows all occasion for repentance (in its subject) passed away. He takes game for its threefold use in his hunting.
Small Image commentary
'He takes game in his hunting, enough for the threefold use of it:' - he achieves merit.
象曰:田获三品,有功也。
In plain words
Regret vanishes; in the hunt, three kinds of game are caught, for offerings, for guests and for the kitchen. The fourth line is yielding and correct, serves the fifth above and has results below. The Small Image says there is merit.
Applying it to your situation
If you work in step with the times, this line suggests the reward will come. What are your "three kinds of game" now?
Position
A broken (yin) line in the fourth place, which is a yin (even) place, so it is in its proper place. Its partner is line 1; both are yin, so they do not respond.
If this line moves
With this line moving alone, Xùn changes into Hexagram 44 Gòu (Coming to Meet). The Jiaoshi Yilin verse for this change (Chinese): 焦氏易林·巽之姤.
A recorded case from Takashima
Xun to Gou: buying ginseng in Nikkō and Aizu: A Yokohama merchant asked about a venture and received the fourth line of Xun, "regret vanishes; in the hunt, three kinds of game". Takashima said Xun is the hexagram of "threefold profit in the market", the fourth line rules it, and the text plainly promises gain without regret, so he should go all in. The merchant raised money, bought ginseng in Nikkō and Aizu, sold it to Chinese traders, and did very well.
The hexagram
Hexagram 57 Xùn (The Gentle Wind). The Judgment: Xun intimates that (under the conditions which it denotes) there will be some little attainment and progress. There will be advantage in movement onward in whatever direction. It will be advantageous (also) to see the great man.
