Hexagram 44, Gòu (Coming to Meet): Line 5
姤卦九五 · 天风姤 · 中文版
九五:以杞包瓜,含章,有陨自天。
The line (Legge)
The fifth NINE, undivided, (shows its subject as) a medlar tree overspreading the gourd (beneath it). If he keep his brilliant qualities concealed, (a good issue) will descend (as) from Heaven.
Small Image commentary
'The subject of the fifth NINE, (undivided), keeps his brilliant qualities concealed:' - as is indicated by his central and correct position. '(The good issue) descends (as) from Heaven: - 'his aim does not neglect the ordinances (of Heaven).
象曰:九五含章,中正也。有陨自天,志不舍命也。
In plain words
Wrapping the melon in willow leaves, holding beauty within: something falls from heaven. The tall tree shelters the melon, a yin thing growing below, which stands for the first line. The fifth line is central and correct in the place of honour and embraces with virtue without showing its edge. The Small Image says it holds beauty within because it is central and correct, and what falls from heaven comes because its aim does not abandon its mandate.
Applying it to your situation
If you are in a senior position and something is growing below, this line suggests embracing it with virtue rather than rushing to suppress it. How could the problem dissolve naturally?
Position
A solid (yang) line in the fifth place, which is a yang (odd) place, so it is in its proper place. It holds the centre of the upper trigram. Its partner is line 2; both are yang, so they do not respond.
If this line moves
With this line moving alone, Gòu changes into Hexagram 50 Dǐng (The Cauldron). The Jiaoshi Yilin verse for this change (Chinese): 焦氏易林·姤之鼎.
A recorded case from Takashima
Gou to Ding: merchants and landowners fight over common property: A Yokohama lawyer handling a major suit between merchants and landowners over rights to common property asked who would win. The fifth line of Gou, "wrapping the melon in willow; hidden beauty; something falls from heaven", led Takashima to say both sides had a claim: the willow is the merchants, the melon the landowners, and the merchants should accommodate them. The final outcome lay with heaven, and both parties should accept it.
The hexagram
Hexagram 44 Gòu (Coming to Meet). The Judgment: Gou shows a female who is bold and strong. It will not be good to marry (such) a female.
